02 SVn Sustainability Loan

The Energy Savings Loan (National Heat Fund) allows you to invest in a home battery at an attractive interest rate, up to an amount of € 8,500. Does your household have a combined income of up to € 60,000 per year? Then you pay even 0% interest. Read more at warmtefonds.nl.

03 Incentive loan

Some municipalities and provinces cooperate with SVn and offer a Sustainability Loan. This is a personal loan with fixed term and interest rate. Please note that this varies by region. Check the offer on svn.nl.

04 Sustainable mortgage

More and more municipalities are offering their own incentive loans or schemes for sustainability. Sometimes this includes home batteries. Use Milieu Centraal’ s Energy Subsidy Guide to check if you qualify.

Currently, there is no national subsidy for home batteries. However, you can reclaim VAT on the purchase and installation in some situations, depending on how you use and feed in your generated energy. Home battery warranties

A home battery is a long-term investment. That’s why at The Sustainable Boys, you choose products and service with long-term warranties. That way, you know that your battery is not only performing well today, but will still be storing power reliably 10 years from now.

Home battery product warranty

The manufacturer guarantees that your battery is free from defects in materials and workmanship. Depending on the brand, the manufacturer’s warranty is usually between 10 and 15 years.

Capacity Guarantee

Every battery loses a little bit of capacity over the years. With a capacity guarantee, you can be sure that at least 70-80% of the original storage capacity is still available after about 10 years. So you can count on stable performance.

Warranty on the inverter or energy hub

The home battery works in conjunction with an inverter or energy hub. This is usually covered by a manufacturer’s warranty of 5 to 10 years, depending on the brand and type.

Installation Warranty

Ready for a future without net-metering

With solar panels, you generate electricity. Up to and including 2026, you may feed that back into the grid and offset it completely against your consumption. But as of 2027, the net-metering scheme stops. That makes it even more important to be smart with your own energy. A home battery helps you do that: more of your own consumption, less dependence and control of your bill.

How does netting work now?

Quite simply, the power you feed back is offset against what you later take off the grid. Until the end of 2026, this can still be done in full. After that, you will only receive a feed-in compensation from your energy supplier. That fee is lower than the rate you pay for electricity you purchase.

What will change starting in 2027?

Netting stops completely: you no longer get a 1-to-1 settlement.

Feed-in compensation: suppliers must pay you at least 50% of the bare delivery rate until the end of 2029. After that, they determine the amount, but it must remain “reasonable.

Feed-in charges: more and more suppliers are charging for feed-in. This makes own consumption even more valuable.

02 How much more of my own power can I use with a battery?

This varies from household to household, but on average you double your self-consumption.Where you normally use 30-40% yourself, with a battery that can go up to 60-80%.

03 Will my home really become independent of the grid?

Not quite, a home battery operates primarily on day and night cycles. Completely off-grid is not feasible with current technology (yet), but you do reduce your dependence on the grid.
